Dr. Ashay Kale is the senior partner of Mission Peak Orthopaedic Medical Group. He has many years of experience in treating patients with orthopedic problems of the shoulder, elbow, knee, and hand. He has extensive experience and specialized training in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgical techniques involving the shoulder, elbow, and knee. He also enjoys general orthopedic surgery including the treatment of sprains, strains, fractures, and dislocations in both children and adults.

Dr. Kale earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California Berkeley and obtained his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine, where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed a general surgery internship with New York University Medical Center and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopaedic Institute. He then went on to complete an orthopaedic research fellowship at the Hospital for Joint Diseases, and a fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine and shoulder and elbow surgery at the University of Southern California.

Dr. Kale came to Fremont in 1999 after completing his fellowship in Sports Medicine and Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, where he was an Assistant Team Physician and an Adjunct Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Kale has since earned an additional subspecialty certificate in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. To become certified in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, Dr. Kale had to be certified in general orthopedics and perform a minimum of 115 operative cases, 75 of which had to be arthroscopic, during 12 months, and pass the certification exam.

Dr. Kale has diagnosed and treated conditions in numerous professional, collegiate, and recreational athletes and has an exceptional track record in returning athletes to their previous level of sports activities as well as in returning injured workers to their usual and customary work duties. Dr. Kale currently is affiliated with the Sports Medicine Program at the University of California at Berkeley.

In his spare time, Dr. Kale enjoys golf, skiing, writing, and spending time with his family.
